Last November, I dismantled my mountain bike and packed it into a carboard box. I took that box on a plane to Queenstown and reassembled it with a complete stranger who had flown in from South Africa that same day. The two of us planned to ride over 450km in 6 days across kiwi mountains, rivers, farms and muddy trails. The goal was to complete The Pioneer Stage Race in 2019.
I plan to write all about the amazing experience soon – but in the meantime, treat yourself to some gorgeous kiwi scenery and keep an eye out for my manic smile at 1:19 in this video. Bonus points if you can pick the point where I realise that I might crash into the cameraman!
